On the 5th November each year, thousands of people from across the United Kingdom traditionally light bonfires, watch firework displays and light sparklers to celebrate Bonfire Night. Whilst many enjoy traditional bonfire night celebrations, why not explore some alternative ways to celebrate?

Spooky season or not, Shropshire is known for being one of England’s most haunted counties. With ghosts, ghouls and phantoms rumoured to inhabit many of the old towns and villages – lots of sighting’s date back centuries, in line with its historic buildings.

There are four Dark Sky Discovery Sites within the Shropshire Hills, all on or around the Long Mynd in Church Stretton. All four of these sites have the darkest ‘Milky Way Class Rating’, meaning that the skies become dark enough to see the Milky Way with the naked eye.
