While driving in Shropshire, which road offers the most spectacular scenery?”
“It has to be the ascent over The Long Mynd. Rising out of Church Stretton along the Burway, you’re treated to vast, open moorland, wild ponies, and panoramic views stretching clear across to Wales and the Black Mountains.”
Which route best showcases the performance and handling of a Porsche?
“The driving routes along Wenlock Edge to Craven Arms and around the Stiperstones offer two brilliant, contrasting experiences. Around the Stiperstones, the route feels wild and dramatic, with sharp bends and steep gradients that test your steering and car control. In contrast, the road along Wenlock Edge is a smoother, tree-lined roads, where sweeping curves give you the breathing space to take in the views.”
If you were planning the perfect driver’s weekend in Shropshire, what would your itinerary look like?
“I’d start early with an loop through the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Ironbridge Gorge, driving along the steep banks of the River Severn before the roads get busier. From there, head south-west along Wenlock Edge towards Church Stretton. Enjoy The Long Mynd around midday, cut across the open moors, and sweep past the ridges of The Stiperstones. Finish by heading towards Chirbury and finishing at Marrington.”
