What a treat it was recently to welcome TV chef and presenter Marcus Bean to Marrington Hall to work his culinary magic for a glorious dinner party in our baronial dining room. As a regular chef on ITV’s This Morning show, Marcus makes creating scrumptious and good looking dishes look effortless – even though it never is for most of us – and we were excited to see what he was going to cook up for our guests.
What is eminently clear is that Marcus genuinely cares about not only the delicious end product of his labours – but about the provenance and integrity of every ingredient. Before he kicked off in the kitchen, Marcus was keen to explore the gardens and grounds around the breathtaking Tudor hall which dates back to the late 16th century. Back inside, the interior has been brought bang up to date with the latest luxuries, 7 spacious bedrooms, plenty of space for socialising and all importantly, a well-equipped kitchen and magnificent dining room in which to work his wizardry.
Having hosted a memorable evening with scrumptious courses of scallops, Shropshire filet and the silkiest cheesecake with macerated strawberries, Katie Morris from the Marrington team managed to catch up with Marcus for a glass of fizz by the fireside. What makes him tick and what drives him crazy, through to who his perfect dinner party guest would be… Find out more about this talented chef who has put Shropshire on the UK’s culinary map.
